Intelligence forces arrested Alireza Mirdasi, a teacher and political prisoner from Ahvaz, on August 1, 2023, and transferred him to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz, after the investigations were completed. This well-known teacher was born in 1973 and lives in the Abuzar neighborhood of Ahvaz. He holds a bachelor's degree and has worked as an elementary school teacher for more than 25 years, earning a special place among his students and colleagues for his humane and compassionate behavior. His students have always described him as a "kind and beloved teacher." His health is poor in prison. Alireza Mirdasi suffers from respiratory ailments and severe allergies. Despite his urgent need for specialized treatment, Sheiban prison authorities have prevented his transfer to medical centers outside the prison. He continues to be denied access to medical treatment, while reports indicate that his health condition is alarming. The prisoner's relatives believe this measure is part of a policy of pressure and torture against political prisoners. Teacher sentenced to death… On Saturday, July 11, 2025, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in occupied Ahvaz, headed by Judge Adibi Mehr, issued a double death sentence against Alireza Mirdasi. The charges against him include "corruption on earth," "membership in groups opposed to the regime," and "propaganda against it." These charges have been used for years in political and security cases against political activists in Iran. The Ahwazi Human Rights Association in Sydney condemns this unjust measure that violates human rights and calls on the international community and all human rights organizations to stand against this legal violation "internationally" and therefore demand that Iran, as a member of the international community, release all Ahwazi politicians.

Hassan Sawari, an Ahwazi political prisoner. Hassan Sawari, also known as Abu Khaled, is an Ahwazi Arab political prisoner who was sent on sick leave after serving six years in Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz due to his poor health. Hassan Sawari, a married father of two, and a resident of the al-Thawra neighborhood in Ahwaz, was arrested on December 1, 2018, following an attack on a military parade of the armed forces in Ahwaz. He was transferred to a detention center run by the intelligence service in the city. He was tried by Branch 2 of the Iranian Revolutionary Court in Ahwaz, presided over by Judge Mehdi Shahin, on charges of "war crimes and membership in groups opposed to the regime," and was initially sentenced to 15 years in prison. This sentence was later reduced to 11 years and six months by an appeals court. After investigations and months of torture, this political prisoner was transferred to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz. Following prisoner protests, he was transferred to Ward 7, where prisoners are held, on April 1, 2020.

Abbas Sawaidi, or Saidi, is an Arab activist, short story writer, and law graduate from the city of Hamidiyeh, occupied Ahvaz. He writes in Arabic and publishes his literary, social, and critical works on his Telegram channel, "Shakhabit." Sawaidi has been subjected to numerous security investigations due to his work on the rights of the Arab people of Ahvaz and is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz. He was first arrested in 2018 and later released on bail. He was arrested for the second time on November 11, 2020, by intelligence agents from his home in Hamidiyeh. The arrest was so violent that his grandmother suffered a broken arm while resisting the security forces. The agents also confiscated his books, cell phones, and personal belongings. Following this arrest, Sawaidi was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court on charges that were not officially announced, but, given the trajectory of similar cases, appear to have been "warmongering." Abbas Sawaidi is now in his fourth year of imprisonment. He reportedly suffers from physical ailments such as a herniated disc and knee pain, but prison officials refuse to transfer him to medical facilities outside the prison. He is not being held in solitary confinement, but rather with prisoners accused of violent crimes. Abbas Sawaidi is part of a systematic campaign of repression against cultural and ethnic Arab activists in Ahwaz, which has been met with repression despite peaceful efforts to demand cultural and linguistic rights.

اعتقلت قوات استخبارات الحرس الثوري الإيراني يوسف سواري من منزل والده في 8 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2018، ونُقل إلى مركز الاحتجاز التابع للاستخبارات في الاحواز المحتلة . ثم أُفرج عنه بكفالة من سجن شيبان في في الاحواز في 1 مايو/أيار 2018. وحُكم عليه بالسجن عشر سنوات من قِبل محكمة الثورة العام الماضي بتهمة الارتباط بجماعات معارضة للجمهورية الإسلامية. ويُحتجز السيد سواري حاليًا في الجناح الخامس من سجن شيبان في الاحواز .
